Cookie & Advertising Policy

How Precision Payroll uses cookies, session storage, analytics and third-party advertising on public pages.

Last content review:

1. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They help the site remember your session, preferences or activity. Precision Payroll also uses browser session storage — temporary in-browser storage that is not transmitted to the server and is cleared when you close your browser tab.

2. Essential Cookies & Session Storage

Precision Payroll uses the following essential cookies and storage that are required for the service to function:

  • Authentication session cookie — a secure, httpOnly cookie containing a hashed session token. Set when you log in; expires after your session (24 hours standard, 30 days with “Remember me”). Used to identify your authenticated session server-side.
  • Browser session storage — used temporarily to preserve calculator state during login flows (for example, when you click “Sign in to Save” while using a calculator). This is client-only storage, cleared when the browser tab closes, and is not transmitted to Precision Payroll servers.

Essential cookies cannot be disabled without breaking core service functionality.

3. Analytics

Analytics configuration is environment-specific. Where analytics are enabled, aggregated, anonymized usage data may be collected to understand how the service is used and to improve the product. This policy will be updated to name the specific analytics provider and describe its data practices when analytics are fully configured.

4. Advertising & Google AdSense

Precision Payroll displays third-party advertisements on public calculator and content pages where advertising is enabled. Advertisements are served by Google AdSense (where the NEXT_PUBLIC_ADSENSE_ENABLED configuration is active).

Google AdSense and its partners may use cookies and related technologies to serve ads based on browsing behaviour. These technologies are governed by Google's advertising policies and Google's Privacy Policy.

Where applicable law requires consent for advertising cookies, consent management will be implemented. The current status of our consent-management implementation is under review.

5. Ad Placement Policy

Advertisements on Precision Payroll are placed in designated positions on public pages only. The following pages do not display advertising:

  • Terms of Use
  • Privacy Policy
  • Cookie & Advertising Policy
  • Calculator Disclaimer
  • Legal / statutory reference pages
  • Security & Data Protection
  • Authenticated workspace and account pages

Advertisements are entirely separate from calculator results and do not represent endorsements or recommendations by Precision Payroll.

Precision Payroll publishes an ads.txt file consistent with the IAB standard for authorized digital sellers.

6. Managing Preferences

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, block and delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent authenticated features from working.

For interest-based advertising opt-out, you may also use:

A Precision Payroll cookie preference centre is not yet implemented. This will be addressed as part of our ongoing consent-management work.
